Wild Earth often allows their affiliates an opportunity to advertise on the back cover of the magazine. This ad for the Southern Appalachian Biodiversity Project (SABP), a project of the Foundation for Global Sustainability (FGS), appeared in the Winter ‘93/94 issue.

This article, entitled "Southern Appalachian Wildlands Proposal", authored by members of SABP and FGS appeared in the 1992,Wild Earth Special Issue.

The article included a map of a fully implemented wildlands reserve system for the Southern Appalachians. It includes all the federal lands in the area plus a significant portion of private land for buffers and corridors. Red areas allow for few if any roads, dams or infrastructure of any kind, and no human occupation.
