This article, entitled "Southern Appalachian Wildlands Proposal", authored by members of SABP and FGS appeared in the 1992,Wild Earth Special Issue. |

The article included a map of a fully implemented wildlands reserve system for the Southern Appalachians. It includes all the federal lands in the area plus a significant portion of private land for buffers and corridors. Red areas allow for few if any roads, dams or infrastructure of any kind, and no human occupation. |
