This is a colorized version
of a map that the group included in the article. This is their
vision of what a fully implemented wildlands reserve system for
the Southern Appalachians would look like. It includes all the
federal lands in the area plus a significant portion of private
land for buffers and corridors. Remember, red areas allow for
few if any roads, dams or infrastructure of any kind, and no
human occupation. |
